Valparaíso is famous worldwide for its street art: murals and graffiti that spring up on streets, stairways and walls and have turned the hills into a huge open-air collective museum. Many are the work of anonymous artists; others come from names that now exhibit in the city’s galleries.
On this three-hour walk we ride the century-old funiculars up to the hills and explore Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción with your guide, where the best-known pieces are concentrated. You’ll learn who the artists are, the stories behind their murals and how street art made its way into Valparaíso’s galleries — a different way to understand the port’s contemporary art scene.

Frequently asked questions
How much walking is there, and how hard is it?
About three hours at an easy pace with frequent stops. There are stairs and sloping streets, as everywhere in Valparaíso, but the steepest stretches are avoided by taking the funiculars.
Is it suitable for children or older travellers?
Yes, as long as they can manage sloping streets and stairs. Because the tour is private, we adapt the pace to your group.
Can it be combined with the city tour?
Yes. Many travellers do the city tour by vehicle and this mural walk on the same day or the next. Message us and we’ll put the programme together.
What if it rains?
Valparaíso has very few rainy days. If the forecast is really bad, we reschedule the time or the date at no cost.
Does it work for cruise passengers?
Yes. The tour lasts three hours and the port is minutes from the hills; we arrange the meeting point around your ship’s schedule.
